UK house producer John Heckle makes his debut on Dutch label M>O>S with this triple hit of acid-soaked beats. Continuing the sci-fi theme he’s touched on with every release ‘Baiyun Mountain’ plays out like the soundtrack to some galactic platform game, with opener ‘Cactus Jack’ rushing towards you with thumping 808s, distorted sirens and snares like cannon fire. On the flip-side, ‘Birds With Vertigo’ bounces elastic drums off a panicking synth loop, while the title track - a 4/4 beat knotted across an Eastern-sounding melody and juicy analogue slabs - sounds like the fanfare you hear for clearing the game. Anyone who wants a potent but spectacular trip back to the ‘90s, look no further.
