Newcomer Cloudface is seeing his stock rise since his impressive debut release on Nice Up International and his latest EP ‘Devonian Garden’ displays his slow-building, hardware inspired sound perfectly. Opener ‘Devonian Garden’ chugs away in the 110 – 112 BPM range with a deep, sluggish kick drum setting the scene to allow the sparse ‘Otcho’ to slightly raise the tempo. Standout “2N” constructs a groove over claps and a beautiful synth leads, gradually developing into a raw deep house killer. “Summer” closes the EP emphatically with a dense, drifting slice of electronica, confirming Cloudface’s status as one to watch.
