Dark Entries Records seeks to answer a legendary what if with this issue of the previously scrapped second album from short-lived no-wave outfit Ike Yard. Titled after the year it was recorded and subsequently buried, more than half of these tracks have remained unheard until now. Increasingly tired with the snail pace and conservative artistic mindset of the music industry apparatus, these New Yorkers shifted radically from release to release until frustration over lack of control forced an untimely disbandment. The music heard on 1982 is peerless of the era: primitive electronics and air tight funk meet searing noise and messily virtuosic syncopation to form something entirely new. A massive slice of previously missing DNA connecting so many strains of left of centre music now ready for its proper reassessment.
