The final release in a trilogy of Ike Yard remix EPs from Desire, following on from the label's reissue of Ike Yard's seminal 1982 debut album. The '80s New York group formed part of the more propulsive end of No Wave, an aggressive - to the point of nihilistic - sound made up of minimal yet brutal beats and searing effects, all delivered with the loose, genuine experimentalism most associated with that period of music. This is territory Powell, and others he has released on his Diagonal label, have taken ample inspiration from and his remix brings out all the rough, noisy dance floor muscle of 'Half A God'. KVB's remix of 'Cherish 8' is a floating monolith of electronics and doomy vocals, while Vessel's remix of the same track is more wildly unpredictable. Bandshell's remix of 'NCR' works the kind of grainy, broken, club music textures the producer is becoming known for, swinging giddily between sparse beats and roughly hewn, waves of noise.
