First new music in 28 years from the legendary techno originator Cybotron. 2023 marks the fortieth anniversary of Cybotron’s pioneering debut album Enter, and Juan Atkins has seen fit to dust off the legendary name for a single that harks back to the origins of electro and techno, while positioning itself firmly at the genres’ cutting edge. Sparking, punchy rhythms travel down the wires of ‘Maintain’, with liquid synths and digitised vocals intoning emphatically “Human I’ll remain, we will maintain”. ‘The Golden Ratio’ meanwhile offsets the A side’s dystopian rebellion with glistening pads and arpeggios, hallmarks of the electronic dance canon given a breath of fresh air.
