Seoul artist Closet Yi today reveals details of Wire Broke, a new four-track EP for Scuba’s Hot Flush label, with introspective first single, “Moeh” out now.

“Moeh” is intertwined with the raw emotion under the basslines together with the evolving sounds surrounding every beat. The spiritual movement of this EP evokes this track as a precursor to gently enter into the soundscapes of Closet Yi’s highland, showcasing her raw talent and expansive influences.

In Closet Yi’s own words, “I find it funny how this track has many angles emotion wise. Sometimes it feels exciting and cute, but other times it sounds quite deep and raging. I’ve been going through some mixed feelings the past year, with some of the best moments in my life, but also very destructive ones too, so I think this is all dissolved in little bits in a self-reflective way.”

The Seoul-based DJ and producer’s career has taken her on a thrilling journey through the electronic music landscape. With a two-year stint as resident DJ and librarian at the Hyundai Card Music Library under her belt, Closet Yi's musical influences go far beyond just dance music. She's previously released on UK labels Hotflush Recordings, Curving Tracks, and No Bad Days, as well as the Asia based tastemaker labels Silkroad Sounds and Honey Badger Records.

She's honed her craft at some of the most respected clubs and festivals, djing for Lost Village Festival, Village Underground, Corsica Studios, Minh Hongkong, and Circus Tokyo. She's been featured on Resident Advisor's Mix of The Day and has crafted mixes for Crack Magazine, Circo Loco, and DJ Mag's Fresh Kicks series. Successfully nailing her Boiler Room debut along with Anz, Mogwaa, and DJ Sharda, she wrapped up 2022 with Apple Music’s NYE 2023 DJ Mix as one of the 23 artists worldwide.

Announced as one of Beatport’s next artists in 2023, Closet Yi is set to release two EPs, and embark on a European tour this summer.
