Swedish producer Ivan Pavlov returns to his long-running COH moniker for a new solo LP on Dais entitled Radiant Faults. Composed almost entirely on a Silhouette Eins (a synthesiser brand new to the artist), Pavlov maintains that initial sessions were haunted by a “celestial entity” powering the electronics that Coil had coined ELpH in the ‘90’s. Radiant Faults then explores the parallels between the Eins’ otherworldly “pure data” apparatus (including video signals as sound triggers, for instance) and the uncanny influence of ELpH. Heady as it sounds, the functional power of purposeful mechanical error and the insight those mistakes provide are themes every kind of listener can penetrate.
