A mythic slice of German music history has resurfaced with this Made In Germany Music reissue of Michael Hoenig & Manuel Göttsching’s long-lost 1995 collaborative album Early Water. The composer and Ash Ra Tempel principle were actually set to tour together in 1976, but after promotions were cut the duo instead recorded what was planned for the road mostly on a lark. The tape sat unused for nearly 20 years before its subsequently quiet release and quick deletion after a chance run-in in Los Angeles. Despite its sullied history, the magic between these two innovators still stuns another 30 years on.
