Long-running indie rock troupe The National are back on 4AD for their ninth LP entitled First Two Pages of Frankenstein. Rejuvenated from their time away and no doubt inspired by Aaron Dessner’s time in the great big pop machine alongside Taylor Swift, The National are in high spirits across Frankenstein, with tracks like ‘Tropic Morning News’ and ‘Grease In Your Hair’ surging with palpable energy. Swift, Sufjan Stevens, and Phoebe Bridgers all guest on various tracks as well, tracing a through line between contemporaries, collaborators, and those they’ve inspired along the way.
