A mixtape of enigmatic, atmospheric electronics from pioneering UK group The Black Dog. The release sees them delving into their foundational influences, pulling inspiration from ambient and experimental music. Informed by the brutalist architecture of their hometown Sheffield, the release is easy to file next to the work of Pole or Jóhann Jóhannsson's soundtrack to Last And First Men - that depicted architecture from the former Yugoslav republics against an equally haunting score. Tracks like 'Nighthawks' and 'Form, Function and Friction' using weathered and decayed samples buried under layers of distortion reflecting the concrete buildings gradual deteriorating through time.
