When Tokyo-based DJ Shun had a chance encounter with Sheffield-based label Central Processing Unit at a party in 2018, he didn’t envision he would release an EP of overdriven ravers for them. Four years later, The Door is here, packed with heavy hitting electro wallops that fit right in with the label’s catalogue. ‘Digital Slave’ opens like an action game stealth mission, where flurries of fists undercut unrelenting security alarm synths. The droning strings of ‘Bizarre’ pile up the tension in an already heart pounding EP, and the asymmetrical progressions on ‘Rohan’ display Shun’s captivating dancefloor dynamism.
