Editions Mego presents Fantas Variations - eight reinterpretations of the opening track of Caterina Barbieri’s album Ecstatic Computation of 2019. It features the work of Evelyn Saylor, Lyra Pramuk, Annie Garlid, Stine Jarvin, Bendik Giske, Kali Malone, Walter Zanetti, Jay Mitta, Baseck, Carlo Maria and Kara-Lis Coverdale, with each artist taking the composition into a new format. There’s standstill piano ambience on Coverdale’s ‘Fantas Morbida’, facemelting big-room hardcore from Baseck, glitched out instrumentation on Giske’s version and melodic techno from Carlo Maria. True to the original, there’s an array of tasteful tracks which reside in the more cinematic and ambient realms.
