A Hessle Audio, Hemlock and Timedance artist releasing his debut album on L.I.E.S may seem unlikely, but in the case of Ploy and Unlit Signals, it’s an inspired move. The rhythmic complexity, hardcore-continuum sound palette and unmistakably UK edge brings something new to Ron Morelli’s usually lo-fi label. Equally, Ploy draws from the industrial, anything-goes ethos of L.I.E.S, injecting some grit and crunch of his own.
