Coming off the buzz of his hotly tipped debut LP Unlit Signals, the UK’s Ploy is back with a new EP of expansive sounds, and his own imprint to release it. While Signals mostly honed in on a singular strain of especially European, industrial-minded techno, the Rayhana EP finds Ploy folding in a more diverse portfolio of sounds. Baile funk, broken techno and UK bass all collide into fifteen minutes of turbulent, but triumphant club music. The title track on the A side is a masterclass in tension, its funky hi-hats slowly give way to an air raid synth that brilliantly pans across both channels.
