Five years on from their last full-length record Another Eternity and the acclaimed Canadian duo Purity Ring return with their third LP. Despite the lengthy pause between this record and the last, WOMB does not represent a wholesale change of sound for Purity Ring. This new set finds the pair once again producing stirring, mildly psychedelic electronic pop tracks which draw equally from shoegaze, dream-pop and the maximalist style of TOKiMONSTA and the PC Music crew. The most notable switch-up in the Purity Ring sound on WOMB is that the trap-influenced drum programming which has anchored their sound previously is dialed back a tad here.
