End Of Empire is a fitting title for this new Daedelus compilation. The three records that make it up - 2010’s Righteous Fists Of Harmony, 2014’s The Light Brigade and new full-length The Bittereinders - were all inspired by conflicts from the 19th and early-20th centuries. It’s nice to be able to compare the similarities and differences between these albums, spawned by a decade in which Daedelus has largely eschewed the maniac beat frenzies of his early releases for downtempo, ambient and concrete pastures.
