15 years into her esteemed career as a sort of heralded vessel for the greats — Nina Simone, Alice Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald — Georgia Anne Muldrow is out to prove she’s still anything but predictable. Indeed, VWETO II sees the producer returning to the psychedelic funk landscape of 2010’s VWETO with renewed gusto for lavish, electronic jazz arrangements in the vein of 80s Herbie Hancock — and yet her approach is filled with all the playfulness of a freewheeling beat tape.
