This is the beginning of the end for Sonic Youth. A year before their swan song The Eternal and three before their not un-acrimonious split in 2011, the noise rock pioneers, their legendary status long cemented, were a site to behold on stage. Their sound: an opulent firestorm, with deeper cuts like ‘The Sprawl’ and ‘Making The Nature Scene’ amped to the rafters. Recorded live in Battery Park, this a group far exceeding the top of their game.
