Goofin Records presents a deluxe reissue of the seminal and genre defining double LP Daydream Nation from New York alt rockers Sonic Youth. Originally released in 1988, Daydream Nation is widely considered to be the high water mark in the band’s phenomenal discography. The piece is fondly remembered for the DIY opener ‘Teenage Riot’ where a strong Velvet Underground influence is heard in Moore’s vocals but the odd tuning on the guitars nods to Joy Division. ‘’Cross The Breeze’ is the band going hell for leather, a breathless excursion of fuzzed electric guitars, hammered drums and Kim Gordan’s shouting, attitude-laced vocals. Released at a time when underground, alternative rock was in its infancy, Daydream Nation will long be an extremely important and relevant reference point for a genre that has since flourished.
