London bass fiend Otik returns to Dext Recordings with new EP Dioxide. The record’s title-track locks into the soundsystem techno sound that Otik has had so much joy with over the past couple of years. Full of booming kicks, twittering percussion and slightly dubwise effects, it’s no surprise that ‘Dioxide’ has also been given the remix treatment by Bruce (his version ends up sounding like a sort of bit-crushed take on ‘Pulse X’). Otik also has some surprises up his sleeve here - ‘Tuskanary’ is syrupy breakbeat techno while closer ‘Theia’ switches out the drums for trippy plumes of synth.
