London producer Otik returns to Martyn’s 3024 label for his debut full length LP entitled Cosmosis. Showing off a more thoughtful, cerebral side than his usual dancefloor-oriented work, Otik channels a recent crisis of faith and other stormy personal battles into Cosmosis, which combined with his stated influences that drew much closer to the cinema than the club makes for a bracing, and thematically tight listen. Running through ambient, drum and bass, and sumptuous techno, there’s still plenty to knock your head to as Otik takes you through a journey of self-discovery and rebirth.
