Bristol producer Pinch's album Underwater Dancehall, released on his own Tectonic label, is one of the finest full length album statements to come out of dubstep. Cavernous bass is deployed with detailed intent for a submerging listen and his arrangements are given particular space on the instrumental version of the album (Pinch has recorded a vocal and an instrumental version). The vocals range in style, from straight up dancehall to Indian Bollywood style vocals and reggae vocals, the lyrics touch on a number of subjects, conscious, uplifting or street tough. What transpires is a mesmeric album that commands total immersion from the listener.
