Pinch reboots his Cold imprint for a new two-track. Many have been clamouring for a full version of ‘Water Bomb’ since its star turn in Mumdance’s 2015 Fabriclive mix. One rinse of the track here and you can see why. Throwing together the best elements of Tessela’s ‘Rough 2’ and L-Vis 1990’s ‘Ballad 4D’, ‘Water Bomb’ is one of those rare tracks that doesn’t sound like much else out there in the clubsphere and simultaneously celebrates the resurgent experimental energy in British techno at the moment. B-side ‘Cold New Worlds’ makes good on the title, with icy synth pads cresting atop a drum groove that sounds like it’s wading through thick mud.
