After dropping an LP through Opal Tapes (2017’s Body Punishment), Italian producer Domenico Crisci now rocks up on OT’s sub-label Black Opal with new EP Velvet. At the time of writing there is one comment on Domenico Crisci’s Discogs page, and it simply reads ‘proper techno’. On the evidence of this EP you’d be hard-pushed to disagree. Velvet is a set of ferocious lo-fi slammers that sometimes overload themselves to the point of pure noise. ‘Velvet’ and ‘Valzer’ are a bit more acidic than ‘You Are Hot’ and ‘I Lost Myself’, the latter of which sounds like it may actually have been taped in the seventh circle of hell. Wicked.
