Lyubocha’s first solo EP for Black Opal is a quartet of lo-fi techno tools. Berzerk sees Lyubocha trying out a few different styles that all orbit the core principles of the genre. Opener ‘Berzerk’ is a dub techno take that could pass for an Echocord drop; ‘Noblask’ is a slamming acid tool ala Posthuman; ‘Nenavist’ combines 303s and spacey synth pads with a shifting kick drum, and closer ‘Nikogda’ keeps ‘Nenavist’s broken beats while throwing in some atonal arpeggios. The production on Berzerk also has a pleasingly degraded feel to it.
