Relative unknown Domenico Crisci debuts on L.I.E.S. side project Russian Torrent Versions with the ninth addition to the imprint. In a similar vein to its predecessors, Versions 9 is another example of heavy-handed techno artillery engineered for the darkest basements. Things get off to a nervous start with the fiery, daggering arpeggios of ‘Thinking To The Hip’ whereas the Mills-esque 909 claps and sci-fi textures of ‘I’m Having Fun’ are slightly smoother. Flipping over, ‘Arrive’ is another unrelenting, repetitive weapon with the same level of abrasiveness as an early Regis or Monrella track whereas the final ‘Untitled’ track is another mind-melting concoction of battering drums and cymbal crashes.
