Powell Tillmans is a promising new collaborative project between XL/Diagonal producer Powell and the Turner Prize-winning artist and occasional musician Wolfgang Tillmans. On Spoken By The Other, the two artists offer up a six-track EP that softens Powell’s hard-bitten machine music with some mournfully beautiful vocal interjections from Tillmans. A cut like ‘Feel The Night’ puts Lorenzo Senni-esque maxi-synths up against some auto-tuned singing reminiscent of How To Dress Well.
