The third full-length album from NYC duo Beacon arrives via Ghostly International (Matthew Dear, Shigeto). Gravity Falls is a record of beguiling electronic pop that takes in both the classic tropes of the genre and its more recent stylistic mutations. The likes of Goldfrapp and Depeche Mode are recalled by tracks such as ‘Don’t Go Looking’ and ‘Be My Organ’. However, there are also nods to trip-hop (‘Marion’, ‘On Ice’), James Blake (‘Losing My Mind’), early Four Tet (‘Bending Light’) and more on this varied LP.
