The third installment of Andy Mac’s Diving Bird series arrives via Idle Hands. Anyone who locked into the previous two Diving Bird drops will be expecting a record of skew-whiff and genre-agnostic club fare. True to form that’s just what we have here. 7-minute-long opener ‘Sketch’ is a loping triple-time house jam that also draws from the balearic dubisms of the Sex Tags Amfibia label. ‘Dancehall Style’ is inaccurately titled - ‘Dub Style’ would be a little better, but even that is an inaccurate description of this nugget of ultra-lo-fi electronics. The record’s final track sees PST & Dresen go back to where it all began. Their version of ‘Longships’, the first entry on the first Diving Bird EP, laces the contemplative original with a little cosmic/dub techno delay.
