Six remixes to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Mr. Mitch’s excellent Devout LP here. This EP kicks off with two beautiful cuts of weightless dancehall that are as tender and heartfelt as anything Mitch himself has done. Mechatok’s version of ‘VPN’ strips the drums out from the original to create a glacial masterpiece, while Mitch protege Tarquin displays a deft touch to sand the edges off of the lights-low r&b of the original. The Silk Road Assassins remix of ‘VPN’ goes harder than Mechatok’s, invoking The Weeknd’s early mixtapes. Elsewhere we get Italo fetishism from u-Ziq, a typically skittish take by Murlo and, in Mark Force’s version of ‘Priority’, the only entry that immediately offers itself to the dancefloor. A highly varied - and highly rewarding - EP.
