Laurene Exposito’s intriguing EYE project follows up last year’s debut LP Sabine with another four-track for Knekelhuis. The songs here continue the work started on that album, invoking post-punk synth greats like Bauhaus as well as Farah’s 2007 LP After Dark. Exposito buries her vocals amid minimal synth-and-drum-machine grooves, carving out a space in which she can make sense of changes in her personal life. We find her mutter, coo, wail and shout across the EP, often within the space of the same song. It makes for highly engaging listening.
