While we may never know the true identity of those behind EYE, what’s for certain is that we’ll keep listening as long as the project keeps turning out records as idiosyncratic and beguiling as Vashanya. As with the project’s previous drops background information is kept to a minimum here, so all we have to go on is the music. And what music it is - the tracks of Vashanya are some of the most unusual pieces of home-baked electronic music you’ll hear this year. Spiritual jazz, Mad Professor-style electro-dub, new age cosmography and some curious incantatory vocals combine in a manner that isn’t a million miles away from early Hype Williams.
