OOBE - that’s Out-Of-Body Experience - comes through with an EP on FaltyDL’s Blueberry Records, also home to Elysia Crampton and Todd Osborn. With releases on 1080p and Opal Tapes, Blueberry provides a fitting new home for the one born Yari Malaspina. As the keening synths of ‘Virtual-E’ should signal from the get-go, Amarcord is a heavily-felt record full of emotional peaks and troughs. Many of the tracks here sound like Malaspina has ripped the audio from an 80’s workout VHS and thrown it together with, by turns: Rustie’s Glass Swords (‘Amarcord’); the nearest Italians Do It Better release to hand (‘1989 Summer’); and Mr. Mitch’s ‘Don’t Leave’ (‘Crush Mind’).
