Optimo's So Low club nite turned label follows on from the brilliant Happy Meals gone La Monte Young album with this lavishly packaged mini comp Now and Then.

Opening with the Now side, we are treated to the cold wave stomp of Ian Hicks False Awakening. Built around a full leather jacket 110 bpm beat, the claustrophobic vocals add a splash of death metal to this modern evil eyed synth masterpiece. Followed on by Luxos Vihreä Ovi, the tone updates the Deep Skanner vibe of La Bambola Del Dr Caligari with some tasty dub FX.

The Then side starts with a sparkling rendition from Carl Matthews, originally released in the early 80's via Colin Potter’s ICR label on the Flowmotion compilation and sounding rather like the recent LNS and Sotofett Wania collab, trainspotters will note its title was used as lyrics by Regis for the BMB Live In Tokyo 12" on Downwards a few years back. The Schmutz Sisters 88' classic La Folle ends the arrangement with a gothic waltz, primed for end of night dance floor drama.
