Thrill Jockey are seeing in their quarter-century in 2017, and to celebrate they’re opening the vaults and reissuing some of their most pioneering work. It is no surprise that 94diskont, the third LP by oval that originally saw light on the label in 1996, has been included in this wave of repressings. The landmark album kickstarted the glitch genre, with oval taking cues from Eno and Byrne’s My Life in the Bush of Ghosts to create a record of beautiful and visionary electronica. 94diskont’s influence can be felt in everything from Jan Jelinek to Gold Panda to the Brainfeeder crew, and the album was included in Pitchfork’s top 100 of the 1990s. The reissue comes with a second LP of remixes by Christian Vogel, Scanner and more.
