Having already made a name for himself with stellar releases on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People and a stunning debut album on Justin Miller’s HAKT Recordings, Harold Boue aka ABSTRAXION returns with his second LP. Its mastery in minor key chord progressions built with organic sounds that emulate vast wintery landscapes. Melancholia is the overarching feeling of the album, though there are moments where sheer euphoria swells up making it incredibly exciting. Loic Fluery of Isaac Delusion contributes his entrancing vocals on ‘Needed You’ to magnificent effect. It’s a poignant album featuring a number of highlights, though the real beauty of it will only be experienced when listened to as a whole.
