Night Slugs raise the bar again with their genre-shaping Allstars 3 comp, featuring ice cold grime, house and techno from the label's core crew and their aliases: Girl Unit, Jam City, Ikonika plus label heads Bok Bok & L Vis 1990.
Each time one of these comps lands it's enough to make the bedroom production soundcloud masses churning out endless uninteresting grime and techno trax run for cover whilst for the rest of us; it's an instant jaw-drop scenario.
In a series that has seen tunes emerge that have been staples in many a DJ's bag; Allstars 3 looks closer to home to pull talent for the wealth of club constructions on show. From the RNB footwork of NA's Ecstacy Edit thru Iknonika's surprisingly militant grime bashment Stick Shaker it's clear they aren’t messing about.
Whilst the neon dreaming vibe & Tron visuals of the Night Slugs we all know and love is still here, on L-Vis & Ronika's RNG Sweet Spot and Bok Bok & Sweyn Jupiter with Flirta D's cloud rap 808s and grapes style Unlimited. The overall feel of the music displays a strong move towards harder, more abrasive structures. Check Jam City's dystopian dancehall on Direct Drums to Girl Unit's iced out Queen B, recalling Jokers Stuck In the System as an armour plated techno tank.
Don't be fooled by its football pitch style grass adorned cover, winter is here and the Night Slugs Allstars are heading deep into the cold.
