This imagined video game soundtrack from Debmaster (France) and DJ Die Soon (Japan) sounds about as crazy as the accompanying cover art from Oki-chu looks. Both aspects of the release are slightly reminiscent of some of the Venetian Snares output, and the frantic drum breaks, warped vocal samples and ultra fast melodic lines blur together to create an unusual hybrid of footwork, techno, noise and hip-hop. Coming from experimental multimedia powerhouse Staalplaat, a physical and online store based in Berlin, it’s no surprise Cursed Demons Season has a touch of the unorthodox about it – but we guess that’s what makes it all the more interesting.
