Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs (1977) is the debut album by Parliament-Funkadelic lead guitarist (and master of that fired solo on Maggot Brain) Eddie Hazel. It was Hazel's only album until his death in 1992, and is now revitalised in all its funky-glory by Be With on x1LP, 500 copies. The full Mothership was in attendance adding acid-drenched weight to he masterful playing of Hazel; head-snap funk rock, swaggering G-Funk, and wide-eyed psychedelia (a blistering proto-metal cover of The Beatles’ masterpiece “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”, in particular, shreds). Heavyweight concoctions from one of the great, underrated guitarists.
