Manchester based electronic musician John Howes (just 22 years of age) releases his debut album through fellow Mancs, Melodic. Chiming with the exquisite technoid ghosts of European labels, Dial, Kompakt, Hivern Discs, Howes is a welcome new voice from the North. Crafted from a modular rig, Howes plugs into a sound that also references the Border Community (Holden, Nathan Fake, Luke Abbott) but shifts with its own weightless finesse between bubbling house rhythms and glacial ambient textures. Tipped for those into the above, and SAW-period Aphex.
