First ever vinyl pressing of a cornerstone of the Dream Catalogue world, HK by Hong Kong Express finally made available on heavy-weight 'future' blue vinyl.
Originally released 11 days prior to the game-changing Birth Of A New day by HKE and t e l e p a t h as 2814, HK was the first glimpse into the urban decay that mapped out the falling rain of the label to date. Fast forward to 2016 and with the scene splitting into the traditional vaporwave ambient sound and the more brutal hardvapor of WosX & DJ ALINA.
HK is a kaleidoscopic journey down the edge of the nightside Chiba City, blues intact. Described by HKE as "The sea of neon rippling waves under a heavy rain that batters the window of the dark hotel room in the middle of the city. There is no point to any of this except beauty." and for us, this perfectly sums up the escapism of the album.
Sitting comfortably between the recent Burial 12" on Hyperdub and the soundtrack sci-fi of grime of Zomby and Cygnus, HK is a glimpse into the earliest incarnations of dead space internet ambience, a return of dreams before hardvapor nightmare took a hold.
