Vom Grill is one of many aliases adopted by Antwerp producer and Ultra Eczema label boss Dennis Tyfus (aka Bitchy Vallens aka Herr Kelua aka Penis Tea Flush). On Knerpen! (bevel), his first release for the great PAN, Tyfus plays with tape loops, vocal processing, and musique concrète with a sense of humour that’s often lacking in the straight-faced world of experimental music. Each side of the record is presented as one 15-minute-long track, with a writhing and weird a-side giving way to a bizarrely operatic b-side. While the album might not make a lot of sense alongside recent releases by M.E.S.H. or Helm on the label, Knerpen! (bevel) nevertheless feels very much like a PAN record.
