Released in 2011, Nighthawks is a compositional and instrumental collaboration between John Foxx, Harold Budd and Ruben Garcia where the three figures explore a soundscape associated with worlds like film noir. For the most part, Nighthawks takes direction from the piano. Gloomy refrains and delicate interludes steer the atmospherics into tense and dramatic areas. While uneasy, compositions like The Shadow Of Her Former Self and Lovedust are stirring in their minimalism, showing off the detailed and effective approach that all these artists take with them into the studio.
