After ushering in some 18,000 plays through a Boiler Room premiere, Vai’s Dust sits comfortably on the track list for this impressive, experimental EP from newcomer Vai. Marking the eighth release for Leipzig-based imprint Holger, Son Of Idaia is situated firmly on the periphery of techno music. Sitting somewhere between the realms of ambient, IDM, electronica and dimly lit techno – the EP is an immersive and explorative mix of sticky dub textures and celestial techno production. Having released bits of music before under different aliases and titles, Son Of Idaia marks the start of a new chapter for Vai where intimate and personal composition take precedence over floor-filling.
