El Mahdy Jr presents Ghost Tapes, a double-sided release that sees the Turkey-based audio collagist create atmospheric sound worlds from fragments of found tapes, field recordings, fuzzy radio frequencies, and his own beats. As you might gather from that title, this is hissing, lo-fi, and frequently haunting, but there’s also a sense of humour that shines through at times thanks to Mahdy’s contorted sampling techniques.
