First released in 2001, The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid is the 6th studio LP from Kranky’s ambient disco-drone minimalists Stars of the Lid. Using guitar, horn, flute, piano, and a number of other classical instruments, the outfit created a linear sound that comes across just as exploratory as it does rested and settled. Clocking in at 124 minutes, the dense composition and complex sampling employed on this LP all play in to the group’s vision of heavily treated drone music. Even after 14 years, this record still leaves layers unnoticed.
