Hard Up records follow up on their unveiling of London-based indie band The Big Moon with this debut outing from New York producer Character. It’s a world away from the cutting sound of The Big Moon but the same overarching sense of exploratory musicianship stands tall. While cuts like Gastro and Infidel are rooted firmly in dance floor blueprints, there is an off-centre finish to the cuts which points to an artist with a little more to say. Chewy breaks and airtight hooks dominate for this triumphant debut for both label and artist.
