Released for Record Store Day, Commissions II is a sequel of sorts to Daniel Lopatin’s first collection of commissioned works that dropped a year ago. It features the unremitting Bullet Hell Abstraction two-parter which was initially put together for Red Bull Music Academy. The piece is based on the sonic and aesthetic patina of Japanese video games. That composition is backed up by an excerpt from a live score Lopatin produced to soundtrack Koji Morimoto's anime film Magnetic Rose at the Abandon Normal Devices festival. This special release is testament to his enduring creative ethos as an artist. A unique chapter in his output for Warp.
