Last seen dropping dance classics for PAN, Japanese techno magician Kouhei Matsunaga aka Nhk'koyxen debuts on Powell's Diagonal imprint with an EP of twisted rave floor fillers, includes two collabs with Diagonal associate XenoglossiX aka XiX. As before he sticks to presenting his ideas in numbered fragments resulting in an interesting dynamic of diverse track lengths. Working the label’s brutal aesthetics, Matsunga goes for an aggressive production approach, with a gritty, dirty sound design of snoring acid synths, punching metallic drums and overdriven hardware. XiX appears with a hint of overshadowed robot vocals on ‘932’ and ‘953’, rounding out the industrial reference points that come with any Diagonal affiliation.
