Chicago house star Tevo Howard revisits his Black Electro Orchestra moniker to present us yet another collection of covers from classic electronic compositions. Growing up in the Chicago record scene of the 1980s, the Black Electro Orchestra alias was originally meant to be used as a template for other artists to take and use, rearrange, rework, and reiterate. Cosmopolitan 1987 includes reworks of pieces that paved the roads in the 1980s and set the path for electronic composers today: Howards takes on Madonna’s ‘Holiday’ in an extended house mix and presents jolly synth versions of a handful of Pet Shop Boy originals. The album is dominated by his instrumental reinterpretations of New Order songs - a love he had already declared on his 2011 album Draped In Electro.
